Cepheus Journal Issue 010Issue #010 of the Cepheus Journal is ready for download. Welcome to 2022 and our first double digit issue!

We have a couple of articles again from Jo Jaquinta, the first one exploring rare metals and minerals, as well as one on a quirky design of the space junk – including a deck plan. Plus, he’s given us the fourth episode of his fiction story ‘The Raiders Lament’.

Our own Paul Drye has written an expansion of a Sword of Cepheus role, the Alchemist, with lots of potion information to give some zing to your fantasy games. Norton Glover gives us an adventure for Zaibatsu for 3 to 6 players that’s sure to challenge your street samurai.

Jon F. Zeigler outlines ‘The Human Destiny’, a space opera setting of his own devising. We have two articles from our own P-O Bergstedt about online AI tools and world generation in the Hostile Setting. Finally, Brett Kruger round out this issue with a teaser for a setting he is working on.

Cepheus Journal 009

Cepheus Journal Issue #009

Cepheus Journal 009Issue #009 of the Cepheus Journal is ready for download. We didn’t have a special theme for this issue, but it eventually became a winter holiday issue.

From Ewan Spence we have an article about the 2nd Battalion Royal Australia Regiment for Modern War. Then from Jo Jaquinta we have the third part of his Raider’s Lament and an article about an out-of-the-ordinary monster.

Cepheus Journal Issue #008

Issue #008 of the Cepheus Journal is ready for download. The theme of this issue is Retro Sci-Fi.

Our editors have written two articles: one about the Space Force outlining some Area 51 style adventure seeds and an article outlining how to build characters and adventures for a Space Patrol style game.

Steve Attwood wrote an article about Orbital 2100. Norton Glover sent us an article about Martians for the Cepheus Engine. Brass Jester has updated an article about solo play (that originally appeared on the Freelance Traveller website.) In A R Kavil’s article you can read about Lethal Hits for Cepheus Engine.

We have part 2 of Jo Jaquinta’s The Raiders Lament story, as well as his look at what a future galaxy might bring to gaming. Finally, Brett sat down and had a virtual chat with Independence Games John Watts, a great bloke with some great games.

We have also added a map of Lancaster Subsector (where the Travellercon/USA is held.)

007

Cepheus Journal Issue #007

007Welcome to issue #007 of the Cepheus Journal. Since this is issue 007 we decided to make this a spy themed issue.

To that end this issue of Cepheus Journal is taking a hard look at superspies and espionage. Norton Glover provides a short  set of rules for dealing with intelligence networks, a realistic upgrade for starting your adventures when compared with “So you are in a bar when…”, while Ewan Spence outlines how to make characters in the modern CIA’s Special Activities Center Special Operations Group. Those of you who game in the relatively near future can look to a passel of gadgets and upgrades that would make Q slightly queasy as Mr. Glover makes his second appearance with Zaibatsu Retrogenics. Peter Simon writes about the motivations for betraying secrets. There is also short spy adventure for a medieval setting by our own P-O Bergstedt.

There are also a number of SF articles in this issue. Joseph Jaquinta brings us a brace of articles on Lagrange points and the humble spaceship door. Timothy Collinson supplies us with some alien cephalopods to come through those doors and Neil Lucock a shuttle to put them on. We also have the first part of  Jo Jaquinta’s story “Raider’s Lament”.

Cepheus Journal Issue #006

Welcome to issue #006 of the Cepheus Journal. This is a fantasy only issue and we have saved other submitted content for later issues, a big thank you to the authors who have submitted.

This issue we have more great articles. This fantasy special issue kicks off with a review of Barbaric! by our own Brett Kruger, followed by more articles on the fantasy theme. There’s the Swashbuckler advanced combat rules from Peter Kreft, some expositions on dragons (Jo Jaquinta), kobolds (our own Paul Drye), and Quantum sorcery (Steve Attwood).

The ever proficient Timothy Collinson gives a Barbaric! NPC to use in games, while our own P-O Bergstedt gives us the Octorus to use in his Störtebeker, or any, fantasy setting. And finally, something we’ve not had before, some fiction from Robert L S Weaver, The Dead Forest.
